Matthew Taber is a professional independent director with Leeward Management Limited, specialising in Web3 foundations and decentralised autonomous organisations (DAOs). 

He serves as an advisor to and board member of Cayman Islands foundation companies and digital asset projects, bringing over a decade of experience in blockchain governance, decentralised finance, and virtual asset regulation. 

Mr. Taber has played a pioneering role in the Cayman Islands digital asset ecosystem, having structured one of the jurisdiction’s first Web3 foundations and subsequently led the formation and governance of over 100 such entities. His experience spans the full range of decentralised projects, including stablecoin issuers, DeFi protocols, decentralised exchanges, and infrastructure networks. 

From 2015 to 2025, Mr. Taber was a partner at Harneys in the Cayman Islands, where he led the firm’s digital assets practice. During this time, he was instrumental in shaping the jurisdiction’s approach to blockchain governance and advised on the development and implementation of the Virtual Asset (Service Providers) Act and related AML and compliance frameworks.

Mr. Taber’s directorship practice is informed by a deep understanding of both traditional corporate governance and the unique considerations relevant to decentralised structures. He has guided numerous Web3 foundations through complex transition events, including token launches, DAO implementations, and evolving regulatory obligations. 

Mr. Taber holds is admitted as an attorney-at-law in the Cayman Islands and as a solicitor in England and Wales (non-practising). He is a Registered Professional Director with the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority and was a founding member and original secretary of the Blockchain Association of the Cayman Islands.

He is a British citizen and a permanent resident of the Cayman Islands
