Joshua Zimmer acts as a Cayman Islands-based independent board member and project manager, predominantly for clients within the blockchain and fintech sectors.
Joshua is a qualified attorney-at-law in the Cayman Islands, with over 6 years post qualification experience in legal and compliance matters.
Prior to joining Leeward, Joshua practiced at Campbells LLP in the Cayman Islands in the corporate department, where he advised on a range of corporate/commercial, investment fund, and blockchain/fintech matters.
He has a well-established understanding of various offshore legal structures and entity types and their intended role in facilitating and fulfilling onshore legal and accounting advice.
He would often work closely with leading onshore advisors in order to implement and fulfill structuring objectives and operating arrangements within the offshore legal structures, all while maintaining good standing with local regulations and conforming to all compliance obligations.
Joshua has in-depth knowledge of the blockchain space and has been deeply involved in the same since early 2017, both in a professional and personal capacity.
With a keen interest and understanding of the offshore legal environment and its interplay with the blockchain and fintech sectors, Joshua adds value to Leeward’s blockchain clientele by assisting clients with legal advice, daily managerial and administrative support, and the provision of advice as to best corporate governance practices and procedures.
Joshua holds a Post-Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice (LPC) from the University of Law, Bristol, UK; a Bachelor of Law (L.L.B.) from the University of Liverpool, UK; and an Associate Degree in Accountancy from the University College of the Cayman Islands. Joshua is a member of the Cayman Islands Bar Association and is a notary public. He is a permanent resident of the Cayman Islands.
